Jack Grosse, 68

Jack LaVern Grosse, 68, construction company owner from Peabody, died Feb. 19 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 212 E. Division. Burial will be at Prairie Lawn Cemetery. The family will greet friends and relatives from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home in Peabody.

He was born Jan. 28, 1940, in Hillsboro to Kenneth L. and Martha Bernhardt Grosse. On July 21, 1962, he was married to Sharon K. Shepherd, who survives in Peabody.

He is also survived a daughter, Julia Kay Ensminger, and two granddaughters, Taylor and McKenzie Ensminger.

A memorial has been established for the Peabody-Burns band program.

 

Pete Propp, 94

Allen A. “Pete” Propp, 94, a retired farmer from Marion, died Feb. 18 at Newton Medical Center.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion. Burial will be at Marion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday with the family and from 8 a.m. until the start of the service on Friday.

He was born May 10, 1913, to George J. and Amelin Vogel Propp in rural Marion. On Aug. 30, 1934, he was married to Eloise Hett, who predeceased him in 1993.

He is survived by a daughter, Sharon Englebright of Garden City; three grandchildren, Leon Holmes of Hays, Tammy Younger of Hays, Teresa Holmes of Garden City; and one great-granddaughter.

Memorials has been established for the Golden Living Center and St. Luke Foundation. Funds can be sent to Zeiner Funeral home, P.O. Box 6, Marion, KS 66861.
