The application deadline of Feb. 10 is drawing near for the 2008 Leadership Marion County Program.
The class offers participants the opportunity to build and strengthen leadership skills. It also teaches participants more about the county and encourages them to get involved as leaders in Marion County.
“The whole purpose is to move people to action,” said Jackie Rice, LMC president. “The hope is that they will get involved.”
The program requires the attendance of 10 classes, a trip to Topeka and a graduation ceremony between the months of March and August.
“We always do a tour of the Capitol,” Rice said, “which is something everyone should see.”
They are also hoping to meet with people from different organizations who serve the government at the state level.
Any Marion County resident is eligible to apply. The tuition fee for the program is $175 and must be enclosed with the application.
The fee may be paid by the participant, his/her employer or sponsoring organization.Those not accepted into the program will receive a full refund.
Applicants are asked to include two letters of recommendation describing why they would be a good candidate for LMC with their application.
