Kansas Farm Bureau will host a series of informational meetings across Kansas to introduce a new and innovative method for farmers and landowners to take advantage of carbon credits.

Steve Swaffar, director of natural resources with Kansas Farm Bureau, will provide information on how farmers and ranchers can earn income from no-till/strip-till crop production, new grass plantings and rangeland management.

KFB is partnering with AgraGate Climate Credits Corporation of West Des Moines, Iowa.

“These meetings are intended to inform producers about the emerging carbon credits market and the new revenue opportunities in the carbon market for farm operators,” Swaffer said.

“All of the state is eligible for the no-till and grass planting options and 78 counties are eligible for the rangeland management option. There also are programs for forestry and agriculture methane.”

The meetings are open to any farm operator or landowner interested in learning more about this new market.

Marion Reservoir WRAPS and Marion County Farm Bureau will host one of the informational meetings at 10 a.m. Feb. 11 in the Marion City Building basement meeting room, 203 N. Third St.

This carbon credit informational meeting is co-sponsored by the Flint Hills RC&D Council.

Other meeting dates, times and locations of meetings in the area are:

  • Abilene, 3 p.m., Feb. 11, Dickinson County Courthouse basement meeting room, 109 East First;

  •  Emporia, 3:30 p.m. Feb. 26, Lyon County Extension Office, 2623 W. Highway 50.
