Centre

Behind 19 points from Ben Krause and 17 from Trevor Troutt, the Cougars bounced Elyria Christian 69-47 Friday.

Krause poured in 10 points during Centre’s 18-8 first quarter run, including a 3-point shot, an old-fashioned 3-point play, and two 2-point baskets.

Krause dropped in another 3-pointer during the team’s 21-9 second-quarter burst. Six Cougars scored during the frame, and Centre held a 39-17 halftime lead.

Five Cougars got on the board in the third quarter and seven players scored during the fourth. All told, Centre got one or more field goals from nine different players, five of whom threw in at least 5 points.

Brunner finished with 11 points.

Canton-Galva

A 23-point outing by Ted Regehr sent the Eagles soaring over Moundridge 47-40 Friday. Regehr scored 16 points in the first half and 9 during an 18-8 run in the second quarter that resulted in a 26-17 halftime lead for Canton-Galva.

Destin Nightengale scored 6 of 11 total points during the second half, including a pair of 2-point shots that helped to blunt a 14-10 rally by the Wildcats during the fourth quarter.

Peabody-Burns

The Warrior boys slipped to 1-1 in league play with a 73-65 loss to Bennington. PBHS is 3-2 overall.

A 19-9 Bennington run put the Warriors in a 10-point hole at the end of the first quarter, and Peabody-Burns did not recover.

The Warriors did cut into their 37-24 halftime deficit during a 26-18 run during the third quarter, but could not sustain that level of play through the fourth.

Jacob Simmonds rolled up 18 points and Nate Bishop threw in 14. Duane Unruh added 10.
