Storytime to begin Jan. 16 and 17

The winter session of Story­time at the Hillsboro Public Library will begin Jan. 16 and 17.

The 40-minute sessions of reading, activities and crafts are available for 3-year-olds through kindergartners.

Classes are offered on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 9:40 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. to 10:55 a.m., and on Thursdays from 10:15 a.m. to 10:55 a.m. There is a limit of 12 children per class.

A registration fee of $3 for three months is due by the first session.

Trinity offers party on New Year’s Eve

Trinity Mennonite Church will host a community New Year’s Eve celebration beginning at 7 p.m. Dec. 31 at the church, 211 S. Elm in Hillsboro.

The evening will include two family feature movies and snacks will be provided.

The event is free and open to the public.

CDDO Board to meet Jan. 21 in Newton

The Harvey-Marion County Community Developmental Disability Organization Board of Directors will meet at 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at the Newton Chamber of Commerce Conference Room, 500 N. Main, Newton.

The Harvey-Marion County CDDO Board meets regularly on the third Monday of the month. Each meeting includes opportunity for public forum.

FFA Christmas tree pick-up set for Jan. 5

The Hillsboro FFA chapter will pick up Christmas trees Saturday, Jan. 5.

Trees can be brought to the curb for pick-up, or can be taken to the county fairgrounds.

Jury graduates from Washburn University

Benjamin J. Jury of Topeka graduated Dec. 14 at the fall commencement ceremony at Washburn University in Topeka with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

He is the son of Steven and Kathleen Jury of Hillsboro.

Country Stitchers to meet Jan. 7

The Country Stitchers Quilt Guild will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, at the United Methodist Church in Hillsboro.

Attendees should bring a fat quarter of blue or snow-themed for a drawing.
