Each of the six high schools in the Free Press distribution area lost at least one night of basketball games to Old Man Winter last week. Only three encounters went ahead as planned.

Hillsboro High School had games against Halstead and Nickerson postponed. The Trojans were to play host to Collegiate this Tuesday, as scheduled.

Hillsboro will host a makeup contest with Halstead on Friday and will make up the road contest against Nickerson on Monday, Jan. 7.

Marion’s home games against Lyons were pushed back to Jan. 5. The Warriors games at Smoky Valley were played Friday in Lindsborg.

Peabody-Burns had once-delayed games against Berean Academy bumped a second time. The road games, originally marked for Dec. 8, will be played Jan. 5.

Last Tuesday’s home games against Remington will be bumped to two separate dates in January. The girls will play on the 18th and the boys will play on the 25th.

The Peabody-Burns girls hosted Canton-Galva Friday, but the boys’ game was postponed to Jan. 22.

Canton-Galva will make up the final games of the McDonald’s Classic Jan. 5 at Hutch Trinity. The girls play at 11:30 a.m., with the boys to follow at 1 p.m. The games were originally slated for Dec. 8.

The Eagles have rescheduled the postponed Dec. 11 road contests against Berean Academy on separate dates: the girls will play at 7 p.m. Jan. 18 and the boys will play at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 25.

Centre had last week’s entire slate canceled by the combination of bad weather and power outages. If electricity is not restored to the school, Thursday’s games against White City may also be canceled.

Makeup dates have not been announced.aGoessel also had last week’s slate wiped clean, and no makeup dates have been finalized. The Bluebirds’ last regularly scheduled game before the holiday break was to be Tuesday’s contest at Trinity.
