Organizers of last month’s Marion County Toy Run presented checks totaling $10,100 to representatives from four community charitable organizations Saturday at Hillsboro State Bank. The proceeds, which will be used to buy Christmas presents for children from homes with significant financial needs, were divided in proportion to the number of free lunches provided within the respective school districts. In addition to the cash distribution, proceeds included the purchase of 41 bicycles—not to mention an unspecified number of new toys donated by the 117 bikers and seven classic-car participants. In the 14 years since the first Marion County Toy Run, the event has raised around $74,000 for resident children.
