Goessel

The Bluebirds torched Remington 69-47 Friday with four Goessel starters finishing in double figures.

Austin Unruh scored 7 points in a 14-10 first quarter and finished with 15.

Unruh and Nathan Ensz each scored 5 points in the second quarter—a 14-6 frame for the Bluebirds. Ensz finished with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocked shots.

Remington, to its credit, did not roll over, but Goessel continued to score at a high rate in the third quarter. Craig Banman and Seth Ott each scored 6 points in the third, sparking a 21-14 run. Cameron Voth posted nine points—all 3-pointers—in the fourth quarter.

Banman finished with 10 and Ott finished with 17.

Remington’s Jake Thiessen scored 20 points to lead all players.

Goessel hosted Elyria Christian on Tuesday, and next on the Goessel schedule are Veritas Christian Friday in Goessel, and Burrton on Saturday at home.

Canton-Galva

After being doubled up in a 4-2 first quarter that put neither team decidedly in the driver’s seat, the Eagles outpaced Little River by a 2-to-1 margin the rest of the way to grab a 48-27 win in its season opener.

Cody Johnson scored six of his 14 points in the second quarter, and CGHS carried a 16-14 lead into halftime.

Ted Regehr caught fire in the third quarter, posting six of his 14 points and powering the Eagles on a 20-6 run to sieze control.

A 12-4 fourth frame put an exclamation point on the win for CGHS.

The Eagles faced Central Christian Tuesday in Hutch as part of the McDonald’s Challenge. Next up are contests with Fairfield and Cunningham at Hutch, slated for Dec. 7 and 8, respectively.

Peabody-Burns

Inman defeated the Warriors 62-40. PBHS went to halftime trailing by a 28-23 margin, but could not maintain that level of play in the third quarter.

Inman outscored the Warriors 17-9 in the third frame, and put together a 17-8 run in the fourth.

Duane Unruh led the team with 20 points, but Kevin Yoder matched that effort with a 21-point performance for the Teutons.

PBHS visited Pretty Prairie Tuesday. Next up for the Warriors is a home contest against Oxford at 6 p.m. Friday. The Warriors visit Berean Saturday.

Centre

A balanced attack from Southeast of Saline proved too much for the Cougars, who got 10 points from Zach Slayden in a losing effort Friday.

Five different players produced double-digits for the Trojans.

An 18-9 first quarter put Centre behind the eight ball, and SE of Saline held a 17-point lead at halftime.

The Cougars also played the first of three tournament games Tuesday at Herington, with two more to follow Friday and Saturday.
