House speaker to address Tabor 60+ PDF Print E-mail
Written by Tabor College
Tuesday, 13 November 2007
Kansas Speaker of the House Melvin Neufeld, will present “From a farm in Ingalls to the statehouse in Topeka” at the “60+” Learning in Retirement Program at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, in the Wohlgemuth Music Education Center at Tabor College.

The public is invited to attend.

Neufeld, a 1962 alumnus of Tabor College, is serving his 10th term representing the 115th District, which includes Gray, Meade, Clark and parts of Ford counties in southwest Kansas.

Having been elected Speaker of the House in 2006, he has an intimate knowledge of how decisions are made that affect the daily lives of Kansans.

Since joining the Kansas Legislature, Neufeld has been a strong advocate for health care and early childhood development. His dedication to these issues has made him a nationally recognized expert.

He also is one of nine state legislators from across the country who serves on the Legislative Working Group, a partnership of the National Conference of State Legislatures and the National Scientific Council on the Developing Child.

Fees for the program are $3 a session or $15 per semester ($28 per couple). Registration and discount cards for lunch in the cafeteria will be available at the door before the meeting.

For more information, call 947-3121 or 947-5964.
