Heinrichs named next HHS principal PDF Print E-mail

Unified School District 410 Board of Education offered a two-year contract Monday to Max Heinrichs to be principal of Hillsboro High School.

Heinrichs, activities director and HHS assistant principal, will assume his new position in August. He will succeed Dale Honeck, who will retire after the current school year.

“We know you’re committed to the students in our district,” board president Rod Koons told Heinrichs following an executive session meeting and a unanimous vote.

Superintendent Doug Huxman and Transportation Director Keith Goossen reported the status of moving offices, supplies and equipment to temporary locations so work on facility improvements can continue.

Goossen said the diesel tanks will be removed from their current location Nov. 20 and 21.

“Hopefully, it’s just a two-day project,” he said.

Huxman said the central district office will move Thursday and Friday to the basement of Emprise Bank. The phone number will remain the same at 947-3184.

The Hillsboro Elementary School offices will move after Thanksgiving break, he added.

Huxman reported that progress is being made on the Tabor/USD 410 interlocal agreement with a couple issues still needing to be dealt with.

“We continue to move forward, but not at break-neck speed,” Huxman said.

Donna Fadenrecht of Swindoll, Janzen, Hawk and Loyd LLC, reviewed the recently completed financial audit report with the board.

She said some changes in the process will be implemented next year because of new auditing standards adopted nationwide.

The board approved the audit report as presented.

In other business the board:

-- approved the bullying policy recommended by the Kansas Association of School Boards.

-- approved contracts for Mike Moran to serve as coordinator for the PATHS to Adventure After School, to Karen Fryhover as educator for PATHS and to Danny Fryhover as assistant for PATHS.

-- heard that the district’s purchase of 10 acres on North Adams closed.

-- took no action following a second executive session to discuss matters related to personnel.
