The Tabor College volleyball team claimed two huge wins on the road, tagging Ottawa (21-30, 30-27, 30-27, 30-16) last Wednesday before trumping Saint Mary (27-30, 30-21, 25-30, 30-21, 15-12) on Saturday.

The road trips covered a total of 600 miles, but the Bluejays had to win both games to preserve their chances of playing at home in the first round of the conference’s post-season tournament.

Against the Spires, 29 assists from Beth Romero powered an attack that saw ratings over 30 percent from three players.

Taylor Lawrence put down 18 kills against four errors on 36 attempts, good for 38.9 percent kills per try.

Jordan Crosson posted 13 kills and one error on 20 attacks, good for 60 percent. Ashley Cohlmia added 11 kills, and Carly Kroeker had eight.

Lawrence led four Bluejays with double-digit digs in the back row, with 20. Clancey Kelly had 19, Audrey Schellenberg had 11 and Cohlmia 10.

Lawrence’s offensive output at Leavenworth was only slightly less impressive than the potent performance she put forth four nights earlier against the Braves.

Lawrence scored on 19 of 38 attacks against Ottawa with only three errors for a percentage of 42.1. She also added four aces on her serve. Defensively, Lawrence put up 10 digs and four blocks.

Cohlmia was not far behind, posting 17 kills, four aces and 10 digs of her own. Jessica Perrault turned in double-digit kills for the first time this season, scoring on 10 of 12 attacks for a game-high 57.1 rating.

Romero had 24 assists for the match and Schellenberg had 25.

Coming—Tabor (10-6) faced Sterling (7-9) at 7 p.m. in Hillsboro on Tuesday and will face Southwestern at home at 7 p.m. Thursday. Two wins would wrap up the fourth seed in the conference tournament for the Bluejays.
