Tabor slides to 1-5 with loss at Saint Mary

The Tabor College football team put up 335 yards of offense, but were hampered by four turnovers on Saturday, losing to the Saint Mary Spires 30-14. Quarterback Jason Aubrey keyed two scoring drives in the fourth quarter, but by that time the Bluejays trailed 27-0. A 20-point third quarter posted by the Spires built on a 7-0 halftime lead. Aubrey went 15-for-32 and connected on a 32-yard touchdown to Jason Medellin with time winding down. Aubrey ran for Tabor's first score, plowing into the end zone from 2 yards out early in the fourth quarter. Matt Warner, Saint Mary quarterback and Aubrey's counterpart, went 7-of-9 for 106 yards, including a 19-yard toss to Bobby Schattle in the second quarter. Warner also ran for a touchdown midway through the third. Bryan Bosley did most of the damage, chalking up two touchdowns--one that went 62 yards to open the scoring in the second half--and totaling 190 yards on 23 carries. Saint Mary totaled 366 offensive yards. Apart from Aubrey, the top statistical performer for Tabor was Medellin, who came down with 5 catches for 112 yards. Lance Stubbs caught 5 passes for 34 yards, and Caleb Marsh was limited to 1 reception for 20 yards. Demetrius Cox rushed for 57 yards on 22 carries. Tabor is now 0-5 in conference play. Tabor's lone victory came against Oklahoma Panhandle State three weeks ago.
