Peabody-Burns

The Warriors visited Wichita Trinity Sept. 27, defeating Chase County (23-25, 25-14, 25-8) before losing to the hosts (23-25, 15-25).

PBHS took a 13-12 lead in Game 1 against Chase County and pushed that advantage to 18-14 behind strong serving from Julie Wedel. But Chase County rallied for 11 of the next 16 points to take the game.

“We came out on a nice run to start the second game,” coach Darren Schroeder said.

Peabody-Burns led 5-1 after Becky Morris finished serving and opened a 20-12 lead.

In Game 3, Morris had six kills and Wedel and Danielle Savage four. Jessica Gillet served seven aces.

Against Trinity, the Warriors took an 18-17 lead, but the hosts rallied to tie the score at 22 before grabbing three straight points. Trinity parlayed the momentum into a 15-3 lead in the Game 2. PBHS rallied, but did not close within eight points.

Savage had 11 kills in the match and Morris six.

Peabody Burns (14-12) visited Hutch Trinity Oct. 2 and will play at home Oct. 9. The Heart of America league tournament is slated for Oct. 13.

Playing at home on Sept. 25, Goessel defeated Berean (25-10, 25-20) and Peabody-Burns (25-16, 18-25, 25-23).

The Bluebirds played Tuesday at Sedgwick and will play at Little River Oct. 9.

The Cougars lost to Sunrise (9-25, 13-25) before trouncing Saint Xavier (25-27) Thursday.

CHS was led in both matches by Carlye Simons, who tallied seven kills on 13 attempts.
