Peabody-Burns

The Warriors improved to 2-0 Friday with a 56-0 win over Bennington. Nathan Bishop ran for two touchdowns and threw four more—two apiece to Adam Benson and Brandon Pickens. Benson finished with six catches for 121 yards. Trevor Hamm rushed for 125 yards on 16 attempts, and Elliot Spechten­hauser ran for 93 yards on 11 carries.

PBHS plays at Canton-Galva on Friday.

Goessel

 The Bluebirds (2-0) trounced Hartford at home Friday, 52-12.

Hartford was the only team to defeat the Bluebirds during regular-season play in 2006, handing GHS a 42-12 defeat.

Goessel led 14-0 after a 76-yard pass from Austin Unruh to Weston Hiebert in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, GHS pushed its lead to 38-12 on a 65-yard kickoff return by Craig Banman.

Travis Fensky capped the scoring with a two-yard run in the fourth quarter.

“We executed well in the first half,” coach Justin Coup said. “We must learn to keep our intensity.”

Unruh finished with 146 yards and three touchdowns on 15 throws. Fensky carried 10 times for 65 yards and a score.

Goessel (2-0) will host Wichita Trinity on Friday.

Canton-Galva

The Eagles (0-2) were shut out by Hutchinson Trinity, 21-0, on Friday.

Bryant Baldwin ran for 77 yards on 19 carries in the loss. Andrew Westbrook ran for 47 yards and caught three passes for 54 more.

CGHS plays Peabody-Burns at home on Friday night.

Centre

Playing on the road for the first time this season, the Cougars came within one score of beating Wakefield, but fell by a final of 36-28 on Friday.

Centre (0-2) plays at home against White City on Friday.
