Accidents
At 1:40 p.m. July 1, Dalton J. McGrew, 23, Wichita, driving a 2000 Ford pickup was driving west on D Street and made an abrupt left turn without using a signal. His vehicle struck a 1999 Dodge SUV, being driven by Harold M. Stultz Jr., 44, Hillsboro, driving west on D Street. Passengers in Stultz’s vehicle were Jennifer Stultz, 40, Cameron Stultz, 15, Grady Stultz, 17, Shelbi Stultz, 8, and Keenan Stultz, 10. Assistant police chief Jessey Hiebert investigated.
At 9:40 p.m. July 1, a 1973 Ford pickup, owned by John W. McCullick, Hillsboro, scraped the side of a 2006 Ford pickup owned by Hillsboro Ford Mercury Inc. as it entered Madison Street from being parked behind the 2006 pickup. Officer S. Janzen investigated.
At 12:49 p.m. July 6, Vera A. Harder, 89, HIllsboro, driving a 1993 Buick Park Avenue, was eastbound on F Street when Sandra J. Friesen, 51, Hillsboro, driving 1993 Jeep Wrangler, pulled out of a parking lot in front of her. Officer David Funk investigated.

July 1: Dog bite report. Assisted with juvenile threatening to run away from home. Officer interrupted two males spray painting the back of a business in the 100 block of South Main; both fled, but the officer was able to capture one of them; charges of criminal damage to property are pending against a 23-year-old Hillsboro man.
July 2: Dog complaint in the 100 block of South Cedar. Assisted Wellington Police Department with an investigation. Fireworks complaint in the 100 block of North Birch. Officer gave out several warnings for bicycles without lights. Assisted Kansas Bureau of investigation.
July 3: Dog complaint in the 100 block of South Date. Officers provided security at the Schaeffler House for Congressman Jerry Moran. Parking complaint at the 400 block of South Jefferson. Dog complaint in the 200 block of South Ash. Fireworks complaint at B and Ash streets. Child custody dispute.
July 4: Weather watch. Dog complaint. Took lost cell phone report. Returned found property to owner.
July 5: Assisted Kansas Highway Patrol. Several fireworks complaints. Assisted sheriff with an investigation. Prowler complaint in the 300 block of South Birch.
July 6: Complaint of a suspicious phone call and possible home invasion in the 300 block of South Jefferson. Child custody dispute. Subject reported that some time in the last week someone had scratched the deck lid of her 2000 Chevrolet; the exact date and location of the incident is unknown and damages are estimated at $450. Assisted Goessel Police Department. Complaint of an open fire in the 300 block of East C Street. Abandoned vehicle in the 300 block of North Birch.
July 7: Motorist assist at fairgrounds. Property dispute; civil matter. Checked suspicious persons in the 300 block of East Grand.
The police department is requesting assistance with the recovery of a motorcycle that was stolen from 307 S. Washington; Justin Hein reported that between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. May 14, someone removed the 1983 200CC Yamaha Enduro from his residence; it is described as yellow with a white gas tank; one witness reported seeing a make pushing a similar motorcycle down the alley around midnight; anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the Hillsboro Police Department.
