Prairie View site moving to Hillsboro PDF Print E-mail

Prairie View, a long-time behavioral and mental health services provider headquartered in Newton, will be moving one of its Community Mental Health Center sites from Marion to Hillsboro.

Located in Marion since 1967, Prairie View was asked by Marion County Hospital District No. 1 to vacate their current location in a building on the St. Luke Hospital campus, to accommodate the hospital’s need for expansion.

The new location will be in the Hillsboro Heights Development area with a target occupancy date of July 8.

“The professionals at Prairie View have appreciated the relationship we have had over the last 40 years with the people of Marion and the medical staff at St Luke’s,” said Jessie Kaye, president and chief executive officer for Prairie View.

“However, we could not find the necessary accommodations in Marion to meet our needs for office space, activity areas and adequate parking in an appropriately zoned location.”

Kaye stated that both the City of Hillsboro and the City of Marion had submitted proposals to Prairie View for consideration regarding their relocation needs. After a review by Prairie View’s board of directors, it was determined that Prairie View would accept the invitation and proposal from Hillsboro to relocate programs and services to Hillsboro.

Prairie View is designated as the local mental health authority and the CMHC for Marion County. This change in office location will not affect the range of services provided to all of the citizens of Marion County, nor will it bring about changes in personnel or office hours.

“Our presence in Marion is long-standing and we are regarded as part of the community,” Kaye said.

“Our priority continues to be to best meet the needs of our clients and families, our staff and the Prairie View organization—now and into the future. Prairie View remains committed to providing uninterrupted and high-quality programming and services to the citizens of all of Marion County.”
