Willis Kleinsasser of Reno, Nev., Rachel (Schultz) Griffith of WaKeeney, and Don Rains, Hydro, Okla., were inducted into the Tabor College Athletic Hall of Fame Sunday.

Kleinsasser, a 1950 graduate, participated in basketball and track and field. He played three years of basketball and, in his senior season, was named to the first all-star basketball team in the Mid-Kansas Collegiate Conference.

Kleinsasser placed first in the high hurdles, second in high jump, third in shot put and discus, and fifth in the pole vault at the 1950 conference meet.

Griffith, a 1975 Hillsboro High School alum and a 1979 Tabor graduate, participated in volleyball, basketball and track and field.

Griffith lettered four years in volleyball and was on the KCAC all-conference team her junior and senior years. She also lettered four years in basketball, averaging 8 points per game as a senior.

In track and field, Griffith set records in the shot put, discus, 440-yard relay, medley relay and 400-meter relay.

Rains, a 1991 Tabor College graduate, lettered all four years in track and field, throwing the hammer, discus and shot put. He earned KCAC all-conference honors three years and NAIA all-district honors four years.

During his junior year, Rains competed in the NAIA indoor and outdoor national meets, and at the indoor national meet again his senior year.

In his senior year, Rains, an NCCAA All-American, was awarded the NCCAA Wheeler track & field award and was named Tabor’s “outstanding male athlete.”

Rains still holds school records in the discus and hammer throw.
