Getaneh to speak Feb. 18 at Parkview

Ministry leader Getaneh Getaneh will tell his story of religious persecution in East Africa at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb 18, at Parkview Church in Hillsboro.

Getaneh is Ethiopian born, but has lived in the United States for 13 years and oversees a prayer ministry called "Watch and Pray International." That ministry also now runs an orphanage in Ethiopia.

The public is invited to attend.

Goessel Lions Club to celebrate 50 years

The Goessel Lions Club will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a dinner from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday Feb. 18, at the Agape Center in Goessel.

MCSEC board plans Feb. 19 meeting

The Marion County Special Education Cooperative board of directors will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, in the MCSEC gymnasium at Seventh and Dean in Florence.

School board members from the five Marion County school districts have been invited to attend the combined meeting.

An open house and tour of facilities will be held at 5:30 p.m.

Menno men's chorus to practice Feb. 25

The Kansas Mennonite Men's Chorus will hold the first rehearsal of its 38th year at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 25 at Hesston Mennonite Church.

Registration will be at 2 p.m.

Each dollar raised through concert donations goes toward world-wide relief through Mennonite Central Committee.

Concerts are scheduled for April 15 at Central Community Church in Wichita and April at Bethany College Presser Hall in Lindsborg.

Goessel youth plan Feb. 18 fund-raiser

Area Goessel youth will be presenting the musical "The Upside Down King" at the national Mennonite Church USA conference this July in San Jose, Calif.

Cast members and their parents will hold a fund-raiser to help cover expenses of this trip at 6 p.m. Feb 18, at Tabor Mennonite Church.

They will serve a special meal followed by entertainment by The News Team of Hesston College. Childcare will be available upon request.

"The Upside Down King," with music written by Doug Krehbiel and script by Duane Johnson, is a musical about the ministry of Jesus. Cast members are Nathan Amstutz, Amy Brubaker, Travis Duerksen, Katie Flaming, Ryan Goertzen, Kory Hiebert, Jennie Krehbiel, Sara Sebring, Austin Unruh, Kyle Unruh, Laura Unruh, Cameron Voth, Chrystiana Voth, and Janessa Wedel. Directing the performance will be Greg Bontrager.

Moms' night out Feb. 22 at Parkview

Mothers of PreSchoolers (MOPS) is hosting a moms' night out from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at the Parkview Church in Hillsboro.

Come and enjoy fellowship time without the children and sample chocolate goodies and hot beverages.
