They were married Feb. 2, 1947, in the Methodist Parsonage in Pratt. Jim retired after 33 years from the Greensburg Panhandle Pipeline Compressor Station. He works part-time at Greenhaw Pharmacy. Gladys retired after 25 years in the school lunch room in Haviland. She is a FISH driver for the Hillsboro Senior Center.

They have three children, Phyllis and Cliff Van Horn of McPherson, Darlene and Daryl Bartel of Hillsboro and the late Roger Schmidt; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
