The Marion High School boys' basketball team clobbered Ellinwood in the first half of Friday night's game.

The Warriors went on the road to open 2007, and came back with a 66-44 win.

With a an 18-4 lead after one, the Warriors caught the Eagles flat-footed and kept them grounded throughout the half.

"We played a good first half," coach Rex Ostmeyer said. "But we did not play nearly as well in the second half, and we need to stay focused on the things that we need to work on."

Although the Warriors passed the ball effectively, they walso committed 19 turnovers and allowed 10 steals.

Kyle Hett started his first game of the season in Emmanuel Jackson's usual spot in the lineup. But Jackson provided a boost off of the bench, as did sophomore center Luke Gordon.

But the story of the game once again was the two-Hetted monster of Jason Hett and Travis Hett.

Jason Hett collected another double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Travis Hett scored 18 points and blocked three shots.

The Warrior boys begin play with an 1-0 mark and improve to 5-2 on the season.

In the early game, the MHS girls lost by a score of 63-39. Erin Carr led Marion (0-1, 2-5) with 15 points.

Coming-Marion is on the road again this week to Hoisington for a 5 p.m. start.
