Warriors meet Inman Teutons in Marion on Tuesday night

In the first matches of a three game set this week, the Marion boys lost to Inman 59-53, while the girls improved their record with a 62-50 win.
On Tuesday night, the Marion High School basketball teams welcomed Inman High, and kicked off the Inman tournament with mixed results.
In the early game, Kimber Hardey scored six points in the fourth quarter to seal a Warrior victory. Erin Carr had five in the fourth, including a three-pointer that broke a 39-all tie with 6:30 to go in the game. From that point on, MHS outscored Inman 20-11, including a 14-3 run to end the game.
Carr finished with 17 points, and freshman forward Kayley Heerey added 12 as the team improved to 2-0 on the season.
In the late game, Travis Hett and Jason Hett both fouled out with under two minutes to play and Inman won the game 59-53.
Inman was whistled 16 times, compared to 24 against Marion; in addition to going to the free throw line 26 times (compared to 10 for the Warriors), Inman made 54 percent of their shots. But the Teutons shot only 58 percent from the charity stripe to leave the door open for a Warrior comeback.
But before foul calls took their top players out of the game, the Warriors looked to have the Teutons on their heels as Travis Hett dialed up his jump shot and Calvin Jeffrey slashed to the basket. The result was 14-4 fourth quarter run that cut Inman's lead from 49-36 to 53-50 with 2:28 to play.
But the rally fell short, and the Warriors slipped to 1-1.
Travis Hett finished with 23 points; Jason Hett and Jeffrey each had 14.
