Trojans, Warriors well represented for MCAA football honors

Nine members of Hillsboro High's state-semifinalist football team received all-league recognition from the coaches of the Mid-Central Activities Association's Central Division.
Eight Marion Warriors were recognized by the coaches of the MCAA's Mid Division.
For Hillsboro (9-4), who finished fourth in the six-team larger-school Central Division, senior Lucas Hamm led the honorees as a unanimous selection at linebacker and a first-team pick as a receiver.
Also picked for first-team honors were seniors Darren Enns, a unanimous selection as offensive lineman, and Troy Frick at wide receiver. Enns also received honorable mention for his work on the defensive line.
Also receiving honorable mention were: senior Josh Kenney on both the offensive and defensive line; junior Spencer Brown as both an offensive and defensive back; senior Michael Suderman as offensive; senior Tyler Kaufman as offensive line; senior Adam Dirks as linebacker; and junior Jacob Yoder as a kick returner.
Three members of Warriors (2-7) were named to the Mid Division first team: senior Jason Hett as a unanimous pick for the defensive secondary; senior Emmanuel Jackson as a defensive lineman, sophomore Brad Klenda as a linebacker.
Receiving honorable mention were: Hank Collet and Brett Billings on the offensive line; Austin Hager as an offensive back; Toby Brauer as a kicker; and John Barr III as a linebacker.
