The Tampa community Christmas party will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, at the Tampa Senior Center.
Caroling will begin at 6 p.m. Santa's helper will arrive at 6:30 p.m., followed by Bingo.
Tampa Lions Club will provide a sack of candy for each child, and Tampa Community Association will provide drinks. Please bring a snack to share.

HMS sixth-graders to give concert
The Hillsboro Middle School sixth-graders will give a Christmas concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, in the auditorium.
The concert will feature the sixth-grade choir, band and instrumental solos.

Soup supper Dec. 6 at Canton center
Canton Senior Center will host a soup supper from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6.
Chili, vegetable soup, pie, coffee and tea will be served. A free will donation will be taken.
Delta Kappa Gamma to meet Dec. 2
Sixteen members of the Alpha Omega Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society met Nov. 4 in the Hillsboro High School Wiebe Media Center.
Hostesses were Anita Boese, Sonja Koslowsky and Joyce Loewen. Betty Bernhardt led devotions. Mary Olson reported on the hostelship she attended in San Antonio, Texas.
The society sponsored its traditional silent auction of crafts and foods. The funds are used for scholarships given to college students studying to be teachers.
The next meeting is planned as a holiday birthday celebration on Dec. 2 in Marion.
Reception Dec. 3 for Hamilton's 88th
The family of Irene Hamilton will celebrate her 88th birthday with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, at First Christian Church in Canton.

Card shower request for Mildred Hajek
Mildred Hajek of Lost Springs will celebrate her 90th birthday on Dec. 4.

Now a retired homemaker, she was born Mildred Bina in Marion County and married the late Albert Hajek on Nov. 16, 1942.
Her children and their spouses are Irene and Eugene Waylan of Miami, Okla., Paul and Rae Lene Hajek, the late Francis Hajek, Ron and Leona Hajek and Gary and Vickie Hajek, all of Lost Springs, and Jerome and Donna Hajek of Marion. She has 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Support group to go to Christmas party
The Marion County Cancer Support Group will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, in the Hillsboro Community Medical Center parking lot.
The group will then carpool to Wichita to participate in the Victory in the Valley All-Cancer Support Group Christmas party.

Centre Elementary to give concert
Centre Elementary School will hold its "Holiday Spectacular" Christmas program at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, in the Centre High School gym.
Performing will be the fifth- and sixth-grade bands, fourth- to sixth-grade choir, kindergarten to second-grade choir, girls' and boys' choruses and fourth-grade recorder band.
The children will also lead a sing-long medley of familiar Christmas carols.

Reception Dec. 10 for Kaiser's 105th
A come-and-go reception will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lincolnville to celebrate Johanna Kaiser's 105th birthday.
She was born Dec. 7, 1901.
Hosting the reception is her son, Louis Lee and Ruth Kaiser of Lincolnville, two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Free kids' screening Dec. 12 in Hillsboro
A free screening for children birth through 5 years old will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, at Hillsboro United Methodist Church.
The one-hour screening will assess development in the cognitive, social-emotional, motor and speech/language areas. Vision, hearing and nutrition will also be checked.

FCCLA collecting bears until Dec. 15
The Hillsboro FCCLA chapter is extending its teddy bear-collecting project for Victory in the Valley until Dec. 15.
Victory in the Valley, a non-profit organization that provides rehabilitating resources for cancer patients, gives out at least 70 teddy bears each month to first-time cancer patients.
Medium-sized (12 to 16 inches tall) bears in clean, gently used condition may be taken to the Hillsboro Public Library or the Hillsboro High School Family and Consumer Sciences room.
Items needed for military museum
Donations or loans of military items are being accepted for the opening of a "Stars and Stripes Military Museum" at 135 N. Main in Canton.
Items will be catalogued and displayed in cases throughout the building.

Prairie Land Food rewards volunteers
Prairie Land Food offers community volunteers of at least two hours per month the opportunity to purchase discounted food packages for $21 each month.
The package to be distributed Dec. 16 will include chicken breast tenders, popcorn shrimp, Canadian bacon, tilapia, ground beef, Italian sausage with cheese, six to eight fresh fruits and vegetables and another grocery item.

Wonderland Dec. 2 in Peabody
Peabody Main Street Association will host a Western Wonderland The day-long event Dec. 2 in downtown Peabody.
The day's itinerary includes some out-of-the-ordinary "hired help," including three performers who have developed a wide reputation as country-western singers or cowboy poets: Mike Flavin, Steve Helms and Mike Leonard. The threesome will present a full program at 7 p.m. in the local high school gymnasium.
Aces & Six Guns, a group of Old West gunfight enactors that has performed at Wichita's Cowtown and recently placed third in a national competition, will give a gun-safety demonstration before they perform in the 4 p.m. parade.
Serving as grand marshall of the parade is Miss Kansas, Michelle Walthers.
In addition to these events, participants can anticipate a breakfast with Father Christmas, crafts, games and puppet shows for children, a cooking demonstration, book signings and a youth dance.
Food options include a chuck wagon supper with entrees branded with names such as No Bull Roast Beef, Open Fire Taters and Cookie's Coffee.
For the mid-day meal, the Peabody Historical Society is providing "Soups of the Season" at the historic Morgan House.
To help underwrite the festivities, organizers are selling $3 pins that will enable purchasers to gain free entry into seven events on the schedule, including the live entertainment.
