The week started with a visit from weather anchor Mark Larson from KWCH Channel 12. He talked to the students about the water cycle, how the weather works and about his job.

Tuesday was "DEAR Day." Students took their books with them everywhere they went. When they heard the signal, they were to "drop everything and read."

Students, teachers and administration joined in the fun. Some 26 students participated in "Chill in the Library" for lunch and some hot chocolate.

Wednesday was filled with action as students rotated through six stations throughout the morning. The stations were 12 minutes long with 3 minutes allowed to travel to the next station.

Elementary support staff and high school students ran the stations.The stations were:

-- Tacky the Penguin. Students watched a readers' theatre performance of this funny arctic bird and his friends and then watched a comedy routine while learning some penguin facts.

-- Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Students cut snowflakes out of coffee filters and then dipped them in three different colors of Kool-aid to get beautifully colored snowflakes.

-- Frosting the Snowman. Students made snowmen out of marshmallows, pretzels, fruit rollups, chocolate chips and Cool Whip. Then, while enjoying their treat, they listened to the classic tale of Frosty the Snowman.

-- Waltz into Winter. It wasn't exactly a waltz, but the kids did learn a line dance to the tune of "Jingle Bell Rock."

-- Snowman's Playground. In the gym, students participated in various winter relays to build their snowman. Relays included cross country skiing with a scooter and plunger, pairs figure skating on paper plates, two-man bobsled on scooters, and even a Santa run. Each time a relay was completed, a part was added to their paper snowman on the wall.

-- Whiteout! Instead of blackout, students played the "whiteout" version of bingo!
