The trip to Omaha, Neb., for the Tabor College volleyball team for the Region IV proved to be a short one as the fifth-seeded Bluejays bowed to fourth-seeded College of the Ozarks in four games.

The Bluejays struggled to impose their style of play on the Bobcats and fell behind early.

The first two games went 19-30, 25-30 before Tabor broke through with a 30-27 win. A 22-30 loss in the fourth game ended the match and the season.

"We played more like ourselves the third game, but it was too late to turn the match around," coach Amy Ratzlaff said.

Statistically, the Bluejays generated their typical multi-pronged attack. Four players-Kelsi Suderman, Ashley Malcom, Lindsey Vogts and Staci Frick-totaled at least 30 total attacks and 2.5 kills per game.

"The women played hard and did some really great things, but our errors cost us the ballgame," Ratzlaff said.

Tabor's offensive effectiveness may have been limited by errors, but the team's defense was as imposing as ever.

The team totaled 21 blocks in the four-game set, including nine by Suderman and three each by Vogts, Frick and Ashley McKillip.

Audrey Schellenberg and Traci Neufeld each averaged 3.75 digs per game. Schellenberg averaged 10.75 assists for the match, and Maggie Weinman served a pair of aces.

"It is always hard to lose a ballgame, but this loss caps off a great season filled with a lot a great moments," Ratzlaff said.
