La Cabana, an authentic Mexican restaurant owned by new Hillsboro resident Atanacio Nieto, opened its doors Nov. 17 at 117 S. Main in Hillsboro.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Lunch is served until 3 p.m. daily and features a menu of 14 meals such as a taco salad, fajitas or enchiladas for under $5.

Child's plates for kids 12 and under includes a meal and drink for $3.75. Carryout orders may be placed by calling 947-0260 during open hours.

Hett certified as hospice and pallative nurse

Donna Hett, Marion, recently received word that she has passed the examination of the National Board of Certification of Hospice and Pallative Nurses.

Board certification provides formal recognition of basic knowledge in the field of hospice and palliative nursing, which focuses on the needs of patient and family at the end of life.

Hett is a registered nurse case manager and interim patient care coordinator with Hospice Care of Kansas, and works out of the Newton office.
