Carla Dyan Carlson and David William Tharp were married July 15 at Eastmoor United Methodist Church in Marion with pastor Rick Branson officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Greg and Linda Carlson of Marion and the granddaughter of Bill and Edna Robinson of Florence and Gary and Shirley Carlson of Marion.

The groom is the son of Blair and Nancy Tharp of Marion and the grandson of Earl and Louise Wood and Dalene Tharp, all of Marion.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a gown of white satin with a halter neck, beaded bodice and a chapel-length train. She wore a tiara and veil as her headpiece and carried a bouquet of red roses accented with white mini gerbera daisies and white lisianthus.

Matron of honor was Rachael Becker, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Becky Bernhardt, sister of the groom, and Melissa Carlson, sister of the bride. They wore spaghetti-strap gowns of red satin with chiffon draped neck and back drape and carried bouquets of white roses and white lisianthus.

Best man was Jess Whiteman, friend of the groom. Groomsmen were Carl Williams and Nick Carlson, brother of the bride.

Flower girl was Alli Hett. Ring bearer was Cordell Robinson, cousin of the bride.

Ushers were Tyler Bernhardt, brother-in-law of the groom, Casey Reece and Chase Carlson, cousins of the bride, and Blake Jones, cousin of the groom.

Guestbook attendant was Hollie Reece, cousin of the bride. Gift attendants were Bev Robinson, Chance Reece and Alyssa Edwards.

Programs were distributed by Chip and Amy Reece, cousins of the bride.

Organist was Anita Brookens. Vocalist was Cheryl Dohy, aunt of the bride.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Wesley Center at Eastmoor.

Reception attendants were Chelsi Carlson, Jessi Carlson, Jenni Dohy and Jane Melvin.

The couple was honored following the church reception with a buffet dinner and dance at Marion Country Club.

The groom's family hosted a rehearsal picnic at their rural Marion home Friday evening.

The bride is a 2003 graduate of Marion High School and a senior at Emporia State University majoring in elementary education. She is student teaching in the El Dorado school system.

The groom is a 2002 graduate of Marion High School and earned a welding degree from Manhattan Area Vo-Tech. He is self-employed as a rancher.

Following a honeymoon to Colorado Springs, Colo., the couple resides in Peabody.
