Canton-Galva grad earns KSU professional award

Phil Bullinger, a 1983 graduate of Canton-Galva High School, was awarded the 2006 Professional Progress Award by the Kansas State University College of Engineering at an Oct. 21 banquet.

The award recognizes successful alumni in the midst of professional careers and accomplishments during the first 20 years after graduation.

Bullinger graduated in 1987 with a degree in electrical and computer engineering and in 1992 with a master's degree in management of technology from National Technological University.

He is senior vice president and general manager for Engenio Storage Group, a division of LSI Logic Corp. He holds five patents in the fields of storage I/O technology and integrated circuit design and resides in Cumming, Ga.

Durham dairy produces prize-winning cheese

The Jalapeno Farmhouse Cheese produced by the Jason Wiebe Dairy near Durham took a second place in the 2006 World Dairy Expo Championship Dairy Product Contest held several weeks ago in Madison, Wisc.

"We are very pleased that our Kansas cheese is placing so well in a national competition," Wiebe said. "Our cheese scored 99.58 points out of a possible 100, with no cheese ever getting a perfect 100."

Hannaford celebrates 135 years in county

Hannaford Abstract & Title Co. commemorated 135 years of continuous service to Marion County with a dinner Oct. 24 at Marion Country Club.

Presiding over the event were Bud Hannaford and Lavonne Hannaford, Roger Hannaford III and Sally Hannaford, with special guests Norma Hannaford, Wanda Hannaford Burk, Mary Hannaford Exline and Gayle Hannaford Thomas.

Recognized for their years of service to the company were Lucille Olsen (27 years), Tudy Brunner (10) and Shayla Clark (5).

Annie Wilson of Elmdale provided entertainment and Arletta Koehn of Arletta's Catering in Burns provided the meal.

Guest speakers were Clark Schultz, state representative and Stewart Title agency representative for Kansas, and Bud Whisler, president of Stewart Title of Kansas City and central U.S. division manager.
