HHS volleyball, cross-country boys qualify for state

Hillsboro High School qualified two more teams for state competition Saturday. The volleyball team (pictured above), 32-1 for the season and ranked second in Class 3A, swept all three of its matches at the sub-state tournament in Hillsboro to earn a ticket to Salina for the second time in three years. Kneeling with the championship plaque are seniors Tina Frick, Jenny Whisenhunt and JuliAnne Chisholm (from left). Meanwhile, running in wet, cold and windy conditions, the boys' cross-country team (right photo) earned a ticket to Wamego on Saturday after claiming third place at the regional meet in Wichita.
