In light of last season's 28-5 overall record that included an undefeated 18-0 run against conference opponents, the Tabor College women's basketball team was ranked No. 1 in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference pre-season media poll.
In their poll, the KCAC coaches ranked the Bluejays second, behind Ottawa, who beat Tabor in the conference's post-season tournament in March.
Ottawa won 22 games last year, but went 13-5 in conference play to finish third in the conference, one game behind second place Bethany.
The Tabor men's basketball team was ranked fifth by the coaches and sixth by the media in Wednesday's preseason polls.
The Kansas Wesleyan (10-8) men's squad took first place in both the coaches' poll and the media poll heading into the 2006 season.
The Tabor men finished 10-8 in conference play, tied with four other teams for fourth in the conference.
The Bluejays beat Sterling to advance to the championship round of the KCAC tournament before Southwestern eliminated Tabor from postseason play.
