Priest's wife, Cinithia, is assistant editor. The couple started their own publishing business, Paired Rail RR Publications, shortly after they were married in 1989. Since that time they have written 14 books on railroads and numerous articles on model railroading.

Stephen Priest, son of Marion County Lake residents Robert and Judith Priest, attended Marion schools from 1972-78.
