Hillsboro gives up an early score, but comes back to dominate Sterling on Sept. 29. Hillsboro and Sterling both came into Friday night's game with identifical 3-1 records, and Sterling took an early 6-0 lead after the Trojans fumbled away the football on their first possession at their own 10-yard line.

But after that, it was all Hillsboro as the Trojans nailed down an impressive 46-6 win on their homecoming night.

Hillsboro fumbled on its second play from scrimmage and four plays later Sterling was in the end zone. But the Trojans never panicked. Michael Suderman scored the first of his three touchdowns for the game on Hillsboro's next possession, running in from eight yards out.

After HHS stopped Sterling, the Trojans' Spencer Brown scored on the fifth play of the team's 51-yard drive on a 16-yard run to put Hillsboro ahead 14-6 with 6 seconds left in the opening quarter.

Suderman added a 54-yard scoring run with 6:06 left in the second quarter, giving Hillsboro a 21-6 lead at intermission.

Troy Frick crushed any hope of a Black Bear turnaround in the second half when he ran back a pass interception 35 yards for a score and a 28-6 Hillsboro lead on Sterling's first possession of the third quarter.

Brown added a 28-yard run and threw 39-yards to Lucas Hamm for Hillsboro's next two scores. Suderman capped the scoring with a 17-yard scamper with 11:12 left in the game. The 46-6 margin kicked in the continuous clock rule for the fourth time in five weeks.

With the win Hillsboro improves to 4-1 for the season. The Trojans return to league play next Friday when they take on a strong Smoky Valley squad in Lindsborg.
