Edward H. Jantz, 88, retired employee of Tip Top Dairy in Hillsboro, died Sept. 13 in Lehigh.
The service was held Sept. 18 at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in rural Goessel with pastors Linda Ewert and Lee Suderman officiating. Burial was in Lehigh Mennonite Cemetery.
He was born May 8, 1918, to David J. and Elizabeth Unruh Jantz in Syracuse. On Oct. 16, 1945, he was married to Ella Buller, who died in 1990. On Sept. 8, 1991, he was married to Edna Nickel, who died in 2006.
He is survived by a daughter, Saundra Jantz Quiring and Jerry of Topeka; a brother, Arthur and Linda Jantz of Hillsboro; a sister, Nettie Hiebert of Hillsboro; Edna's five children and families; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church Music Fund and Hillsboro Senior Meals on Wheels, in care of Jost Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
Rose McElhiney
Rose M. McElhiney, 73, housekeeper, died Sept. 15 at Via Christi St. Francis campus in Wichita.
The service was held Sept. 19 at Zeiner Funeral Home in Marion with pastor Dennis Clough officiating. Burial was in Claney Cemetery in rural Marion.
She was born March 22, 1933, to Alfred and Eunice Dowell Hansen in Aulne. On June 5, 1954, she was married to LeRoy McElhiney, who died in 1990.
She is survived by three sons, David W. of El Dorado, Daniel W. of Wichita and Douglas W. of Peabody; a daughter, Margaret Cravens of El Dorado; a brother, Francis Hansen of Medicine Lodge; a sister, Anna Hanson of Peabody; and three grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Kansas Peace Officers Association.
Keith Meljo
Keith Meljo, 70, farmer, died Sept. 15 at Salem Nursing Home in Hillsboro.
The service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hillsboro with pastor Brett Huebner officiating. Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
He was born April 30, 1936, to Henry and Ruth Ellis Meljo in Hillsboro.
A memorial has been established with Zion Lutheran Church.
Victor Schroeder
Victor Marvin Schroeder, 90, retired furniture salesman, died Aug. 29 in Redmond, Ore.
The service was held Sept. 8 in Redmond.
He was born Feb. 2, 1916, to Otto and Mary Schroeder in Hillsboro. On July 18, 1954, he was married to Jane Foster, who survives in Redmond.
He is also survived by a son, Gary of Fort Collins, Colo.; a daughter, Jennie Houck of Redmond; a sister, Alva Grote of Bossier City, La.; a brother, Merle Schroeder of McPherson; and two grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Community Presbyterian Church in Redmond.
Jack Widler
Jack Junior Widler, 81, farmer and cattleman, died Sept. 11 at Legacy Park in Peabody.
The service was held Sept. 15 at Baker Funeral Home in Peabody with pastor David Ragland officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery in Florence.
He was born March 29, 1925, to Arthur L. and Leona Widler, and was a resident of Burns.
He is survived by his mother of Legacy Park; a sister, Dorene and Ronald Kirkpatrick of Florence; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials have been established with the Florence Ambulance Service and the Alzheimers Fund.
