Hillsboro Middle School's annual fund-raiser will begin Sept. 13.
Working through JT Enterprises from Wichita, students will be selling items from three catalogs: Nature in Bloom (flower bulbs), Gourmet Cookie Dough and Home Town Kansas (holiday keepsakes and all-occasion gifts).
Proceeds from the fund-raiser, which is organized by the HMS site-based council, will be used to purchase a memory book for each student as well help fund field trips.
Over the years, the fund-raiser has been used for a variety projects, including purchasing outdoor benches for the front of the school, acquiring a buzzer system for the Quiz Bowl team and donating to a school victimized by Hurricane Katrina.
The two goals the site-based council has set for the fund-raiser are to reduce the number of times parents are asked to send money to school for various causes, and to fund projects that benefit a majority of students and teachers.
Students who participate in the fund-raiser will also become eligible for prizes.
