The Tabor College cross country teams ran in the Friends Invitational on Friday, Sept. 8, at Lake Afton. The women finished fifth, while the men placed 11th out of 13 teams.

"Friday the women focused not only on individual races, but also on team performance. We did well," coach Karol Hunt said. "This was the first time to get a glimpse some of the conference teams. It shows us were we are and what we need to do to prepare for the end of the season. The work ethic of both groups is exemplary."

Sarah Fogle led the women with a fifth-place finish, while juniors Shelby Miller and Amber Wiens finished second and third on the team, coming in 24th and 27th overall.

Miller reduced her time from last year by two minutes and Wiens whittled off 1:45 from her last year's time.

Freshmen Carrie Schroeder and Leah Kopper finished fourth and fifth. Ashley Schmidt, 50th, and Jera Teselle, 60th, rounded out the team scoring.

Freshman Dan Sigley broke the 30-minute mark in his first 8K race, finishing 44th. Zac Remboldt finished second for the men, setting anew personal record.

Caleb Schroeder ran his first 8K, finishing 50th while Jeff Anenson, Kevin Larson and Kyle Larson finished fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.

Brandon Voth set a new personal record, running 2:13 faster than last year.

Will Higerd reduced his time by more than a minute as compared to last year, while freshman Ric Johnson ran in his first 8K.

Coming-Tabor will run this Saturday at the McPherson Bulldog Invitational run. The women's race is at 10:30 a.m. and men's at 11:15 a.m.
