Public invited to Tabor faculty recital

The public is invited to the Tabor College faculty chamber recital at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, in the Chapel-Auditorium.

Performers will include: Sheila Schmitt, piano; Adrienne Dougherty, violin; Susan Mayo, cello, and Lonn Richards, clarinet.

Schmitt is associate professor of piano and piano pedagogy at Tabor.

The recital will feature the works of Carl Maria von Weber, Mikhail Glinka and Paul Schoenfield.

Bible study group invites newcomers

Bible Study Fellowship International invites women of all ages to attend an introductory class at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13 or Sept. 20, at Countryside Covenant Church, 940 E. Northview, McPherson.

The introductory class will prepare for the New Testament study of Romans.

A preschool program will be available for children age 2 and older. No provision for childcare is available at the introduction classes.

Farmerettes plan Sept. 11 meeting

The Farmerettes Club will meet at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, at the home of Myrta Bartel.

Ben Steketee will present, "A Day in the Life of the Fire Chief."

Roll call will be a fire safety hint.

FSA photo exhibit at HCMC LTCU

The Hillsboro Community Medical Center Long-Term Care Unit is sponsoring a traveling exhibit from the Kansas State Historical Society titled "Capturing the Times: Photographs of the Farm Security Administration 1936-1941."

The exhibit includes rarely seen Kansas images of the Dust Bowl, striking miners, farm auctions and 4-H club fairs.

The exhibit will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily until Sept. 13 in the front room/chapel area of the building, located at 710 S. Main.

Tony Brown to sing at Parkview church

Internationally acclaimed baritone Anthony Brown will be in concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, at the Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church in Hillsboro.

Brown, artist-in-residence at Hesston College, recently returned from a summer singing tour in Uganda. He is scheduled to visit Siberia and Korea in the next few weeks.

The public is invited to attend the Hillsboro concert.

Card shower for Leona Widler

The family of Leona Widler requests a card shower for her 102nd birthday Sept. 13.

Cards may be sent to her at Legacy Park, 407 N. Locust, Peabody KS 66866.
