Marion County walkers race past fund-raising goal to fight cancer

Some 237 walkers and 20 teams surpassed this year's record fund-raising goal of $34,000 during the annual Relay For Life of Marion County that took place Friday night through Sunday morning at the athletic field in Marion. Peggy Blackman, event chair, said her committee was still receiving contributions on Monday but the total had surpassed $40,000. "It was a tremendous success," said Blackman, who thanked all the teams who participated, including new teams from different parts of the county.
