Richard W. Jantzen

Richard W. Jantzen, 83, retired hospital employee of Topeka, died May 20.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 25, at Southern Hills Mennonite Church in Topeka. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 26, at Beatrice Mennonite Cemetery in Beatrice, Neb.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, at the church in Topeka.

He was born July 30, 1922, to Jacob and Helen Jantzen and raised in Beatrice. On June 14, 1949, he was married to Hilda L. Penner, who predeceased him in 1997.

Survivors include a son, Steven Jantzen and wife Janis of Plymouth, Minn.; a daughter, Karen Zeug and husband Leon of Delano, Minn.; two brothers, Paul Jantzen of Hillsboro and Carl Jantzen of Seven Mile, Ohio; a sister, Helen Ruth Unruh of North Newton; and five grandchildren.

Memorials have been established with Southern Hills Mennonite Church and the Alzheimer's Association, in care of the Davidson Funeral Home, 1035 N. Kansas, Topeka, KS 66608.

Kenneth A. Meikle

Kenneth A. Meikle, 86, self-employed carpenter, died May 16 at his residence in Marion.

Cremation has been effected, and there will be no funeral.

He was born Aug. 23, 1919, at Conway Springs to Alfred and Pearl (DeArmond) Meikle. On June 4, 1947, he was married to Edna Miller, who survives in Marion.

He is also survived by two sons, Donald of New Caney, Texas, and Keith of Wichita; a daughter, Marcia Jennings of Wichita; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Emma Helen Smith

Emma Helen Smith, 93, entrepreneur, died May 19 at St. Luke Hospital in Marion.

Services were held May 22 at Lincolnville United Methodist Church with Rev. Phil Smith officiating. Burial was in Lincolnville Cemetery.

She was born Aug. 10, 1912, to Miles Ellsworth and Carolina Juliann (Kline) Sampson east of Marion. On Aug. 1, 1929, she was married to Merle Francis Smith, who predeceased her in 1987.

Survivors include son Leonard Francis Smith and wife Eva of Marion, daughter Loretta Dee Kilmer and husband max of Lehigh; 15 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established with the Lincolnville United Methodist Church.
