The Marion-Florence/ Peabody-Burns softball season ended Tuesday, May 16, in Augusta in the opening round of the state Class 4A regional softball tournament when the Warriors lost to the home team, 15-0.
The combination of 11 Augusta hits and seven Warrior errors proved to be fatal.
Augusta didn't waste any time flexing its muscle, scoring eight first-inning runs on six hits and a pair of Warrior errors.
Augusta added three runs in the second, one in the third and a season-ending three in the fourth.
The Warriors, meanwhile, struggled againt Augusta pitching. They sent only 12 batters to the plate in four innings and eight went down on strikes.
Sonja Steinborn was the pitcher of record for the Warriors. She allowed 11 hits and nine earned runs.
