The Heart of America League held its league meet on Friday, May 12 at Goessel. The host Bluebird boys narrowly missed the championship after scoring 106 points, only three points behind Remington.
"This was a great team effort tonight," coach Sandy Banman said.
"Initially there was some let down to the second-place finish by the boys team, but when we put it in perspective, we lost to a great 3A Remington squad."
Goessel girls scored 14 points to place 10th.
"Most events were either a personal best or place for our girls' team," Banman said. "They are a tight group of young ladies who have demonstrated team unity so well this season."
Other teams from the Free Press distribution area that competed were Peabody-Burns, whose boys finished fifth (56) and girls 12th (1), and Canton-Galva, whose boys were 10th (11) and girls 11th (2).
