"With the recent rains and cooler weather, we are all a lot more optimistic about our current wheat crop," Roberts said. "Thus it seems like a good time to announce the upcoming Marion County Wheat Tour."

This year the plot is located on the farm of Lyle Suderman at 1467 Kanza Road. The plot contains eight popular varieties; new this year is Santa Fe from Westbred.

The tour begins at noon with a complimentary meal sponsored by Phillips Seeds.

The featured presenter will be Gary Kilgore, an agronomist for K-State Research and Extension.

"With all of Gary's experience, this should be an excellent opportunity to try and 'stump the expert,'" Roberts said. "So I encourage everyone to come with your questions and plant samples in hand and take full advantage of Dr. Kilgore's expertise."
