Edison Balzer

Edison H. "Eddie" Balzer, 77, retired auto mechanic and co-owner and operator of Mac Communications, died April 23 at Infinia Health Center in McPherson.

The funeral will be Wednesday, April 25, at 11 a.m. at Grace Bible Church in McPherson, with pastor Rich Duerksen officiating. Burial will be at French Creek Cemetery, rural Hillsboro.

He was born Dec. 21, 1928, to Samuel Balzer and Olga Gronkowski in Hillsboro. On Oct. 11, 1969, he was married to Elmira I. (Branson) Carter, who survives in McPherson.

He is also survived by two sons, Curtis Balzer of McPherson and Craig Taylor of Kansas City; two daughters, Connie Humes of Topeka and Jan Opstedt of Yuma, Ariz.; two step-sons, Harold Carter of Hillsboro, and Tony Carter of Salina; two step daughters, Linda Kissick of Marquette and Dianna Carter of McPherson; seven grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren and several great-grand children.

Memorials have been established with Grace Bible Church, Infinia Health Center and McPherson Human Society in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home of McPherson.

Gladys Fenske

Gladys I. Fenske, 92, former telphone operator, bookkeeper and bank cashier, died April 19 at the St. Luke Living Center.

The funeral was April 22 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Marion, with pastor Brett Huebner presiding. Interment followed in the Lincolnville Cemetery.

She was born March 4, 194, to N.L. and Cora (Penland) Olsen in Marion. On Sept. 30, 1938, she married Roland Fenske, who preceded her in death in 1969.

She is survived by two sisters, Irene Brooks and Esther Mae Dwyer, both of Marion, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials have been established with Our Savior Lutheran Church and the Arthritis Foundation.
