Tabor College hosted Hutchinson Community College in tennis Wednesday while Thursday's meet with Hesston College was washed out by the weather.

On Wednesday, the Tabor men won easily over Hutch, 8-1.

In singles, Michael Hagen defeated Spencer Pozek 7-5, 6-1; Aaron Friesen defeated Kyle Martin 6-0, 6-1; Jason Reiswig downed Mark Barlett 7-5, 6-2; Chad Gayer defeated Kyle Thurman 6-4, 6-0; Scott Adrian lost to Kevin Montsiano 5-7, 4-6; and Chris Adrian won by default.

In doubles, Hagen and Reiswig defeated Martin and Pozek 8-1; Adrian and Friesen defeated Barlett and Thurman 8-2; and Gayer and Miller won by default.

"I was happy with what the men did," coach Lonnie Isaac said. "We played the match without two of our varsity players."

The women came away with a 5-4 win over HCC.

In singles, Laurel Delamater defeated Mallory Bailey 6-1, 6-1; Ashlee Helmley lost to Alicia Phillips 1-6, 6-1, 7-10; Danni Brucks defeated Tania Osborn 6-1, 7-5; Jennifer Proffitt beat Kimy Morgan 6-0, 6-1; Erin Wiebe downed Karen Seirer 6-2, 5-7, 10-6; and Erica Hemmert defeated Andrea Schartz 6-2, 6-3.

In doubles, Brucks and Proffitt lost to Bailey and Osborn 8-9; Helmley and Hemmert lost to Phillips and Morgan 3-8; and Scofield and Wiebe lost to Kirkpatrick and Seirer 6-8.

"It's a great compliment to our women that we struggled in doubles and were down 0-3, but came back to win five of six singles matches," Isaac said. "The afternoon didn't start off well, but we bounced back nicely."

Coming-The Bluejays hit the courts again Wednesday when they travel to Wichita to battle Friends in KCAC play.

They then head north to Nebraska on Friday and Saturday to battle Hastings, Concordia and St. Scholastica.
