The Marion Recreation Commission is sponsoring several programs forspring and summer.

Blast Ball introduces boys and girls to baseball, softball and T-ball. The game is played with a special base that "honks" when players land on it . The goal of the game is to hit the ball off a tee and step on the base before fielders catch and ball and yell "Blast."

Blast Ball will meet at 5:30 p.m. every Wednesday in June at the baseball/softball complex and will be coached by the Burkholders and Faheys. The fee is $12 per child and includes a T-shirt. The Deadline for registration is May 2.

Junior Golf, intended for participants age 8-18, will teach the basic of the sport and allow ample playing time, thanks to the Marion County Club.

Sessions will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday on June 12, 14, 16, 19, 21 and 23 at the Marion Country Club. Marion High School golf coach Rex Ostmeyer will lead them.

The cost is $15 per student. To register call Ostmeyer beginning May 23 at 620-382-2168 or 620-382-2879.

From June 12 through June 16, adult golfers can play from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Marion Country Club instructed by Jack Webb.

The cost is $20 per person. Registration can be secured by contacting Webb at 620-382-2264.

Participants and volunteers are needed for a summer theatre production to be held in June.

Children in grades 2-8 are invited to audition.

Cost for the first child is $20 and $15 for each additional child per family.

The Marion Swim Team is seeking interested participants. A meeting date will be announced at a later date. The cost is $25 per student, which does not include the cost of the swimsuit.

Coaches will be Molly Rhodes and Bill Lundy.

Registration is due May 1.

Basics of digital photography will be taught Saturday, June 17 and 24 at Butler of Marion, 412 N. Second St. T

he class is intended for interested parties 10 years and older at a cost of $10 per person. Lee Becker will be the instructor. Registration is due June 1. Class size is limited to 15.
