PARTLY NONSENSE-Trip to KC raises issues from a new perspective

Took a quick trip to Kansas City over the weekend with Nancy while she went to the apparel market in Overland Park. I'm not very useful when it comes to picking out fashions, but did learn having me along is at least "better than her going alone."
I think that's a compliment.

I needed some shoes, so we went shoe shopping on Saturday night. Where does one go with narrow feet?
With the Internet now available in hotels everywhere, we used the Net to find out where to go, then located the address on the Google map. It was a snap.
When I was ready to pay, I asked if the store was in Kansas because it was pretty close to Missouri. I always try to buy locally, but if the opportunity is not available, it should at least be in our state where it might help us in some way.

Television news in KC is much different than ours. It's almost a staccato-one clip right after another and it's all bad news. One shooting after another or crimes of all kinds against people.
--
Sales tax is also in the news there regarding Arrowhead Stadium. Seems the facility is in need of deferred maintenance and they want to fix it up by increasing the sales tax.
Billionaires own teams and millionaires play the game, yet they want the working masses to pay for repairs on a facility where the average guy pays exorbitant prices for tickets to see games and munch and drink obscenely priced food and beverage.

I took my computer along and set up shop at the main counter at the market to get some of the week's work done while Nancy saw her vendors.
The women there were really nice to let me in. In fact, they remembered me using their counter a year ago.

I've been saving time ever since I got my electric toothbrush. Since it's cordless, I can walk all over the house and multi-task while it scrubs my teeth. I can straighten up stuff in the bedroom or make lists and practically anything that can be done with one hand.

Speaking of one hand.... Did you hear about the one-armed fisherman? He told of how big the fish was he caught by holding out one arm saying, "It was this big."

Watching the Wichita State vs. George Mason game was painful Friday night. I wonder if any team has ever made only three of 24 3-pointers. Six out of 24, which is still lousy, would have won the game.

I had an unusual experience on a recent Sunday afternoon. The son of one of my professors and employers at KU, and his wife, wanted to stop by and meet me. It was because I refurbished equipment in Mr. Ryther's printing museum back in the '60s.
They are from San Francisco but were in Kansas visiting. On their way though town, they came by just to shake my hand.
