Minamae Bierman, 85, retired teacher, died March 14 at St. Luke Living Center in Marion.

The funeral service was Friday, March 17, at Burns United Methodist Church with pastor Jim Bush officiating. Burial was at Rochester Cemetery with pastor Paul LeDuc officiating.

She was born Mina Mae Plott Dec. 30, 1920, to Roy and Sopha Plott in Galatia. On July 22, 1946, she was married to Carl Bierman, who predeceased her.

She is survived by a son, Bernie and wife Della Bierman, a daughter, Barbara Anderson; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials have been established with Burns United Methodist Church and the Burns PRIDE program.

Juanita Blaylock, 82

Juanita B. Blaylock, 82, homemaker, seamstress and former Canton resident, died March 19 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Center in Wichita.

The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, at First United Methodist Church in McPherson with pastor Harold Nelson presiding. A private family graveside service will be held at Canton Township Cemetery in Canton.

Visitation was 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 21 at Olson's Mortuary in Canton.

She was born Jan. 23, 1924, to Wilbur and Elva Waln Greenwood in Canton. On Sept. 28, 1948, she was married to George L. Blaylock, who survives in McPherson.

She is also survived by a son, Kent L. G. Blaylock of Wichita; a daughter, Karla Jo Stewart of McPherson; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials have been established with Hutchinson Dialysis Unit and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.

Doris L. Bowyer, 83

Doris L. Bowyer, 83, homemaker, died March 16 at Life Care Center at Wichita.

The service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 20, at Valley United Methodist Church in Marion with pastor Phil Smith officiating. Burial was held at Lincolnville Cemetery.

Visitation was 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 19, at Zeiner Funeral Home in Marion.

She was born June 20, 1922, to Henry and Mamie Smith Hurt in Ramona. On June 20, 1941, she was married to Jack Bowyer at Lost Springs. Her husband died in 1992.

She is survived by two sons, Mack and Larry, both of Haysville; a brother, Gerald Hurt of Florence; a sister, Almeda Kahns of Lincolnville; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established with Valley United Methodist Church.

Irene Leppke, 85

Irene Francis Leppke, formerly of Hillsboro, died March 12 at the Norman (Okla.) Regional Hospital.

The funeral was pending at press time.

She was born Feb. 11, 1921, to Noel B. and Bessie Albritten Francis in Cottonwood Falls. On Sept. 26, 1941, she was married to Archie Lee Leppke, who predeceased her after 641/2 years of marriage.

She is survived by two sons, Terry and wife Sherrie, and Don and wife Phyllis; one grandson and one great-grandson, all of Norman.

Lois M. Nutter, 86

Lois N. Nutter, 86, homemaker, died March 14 at The Cedars in McPherson.

A graveside service was at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Empire Cemetery in Galva. A memorial service followed at 11 a.m. at the Galva United Methodist Church with pastor Richard Brooks officiating.

She was born April 2, 1919, to C.R. and Bertha Schroff Hunt at Galva. On Sept. 6, 1938, she was married to Robert B. Nutter, who predeceased her March 6, 2003.

She is survived by two sons, Vernon L. of McPherson and Donald L. of Richmond, Ind.; a daughter, Lorita G. Thompson of Seneca, Mo.; a sister, nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Olson's Morturary in Canton.

A memorial has been established with Galva United Methodist Church and the American Diabetes Association.

Lydia Pankratz, 82

Lydia Pankratz, 82, Co-op bookkeeper, died March 17 at Parkside Home in Hillsboro.

The service was held Tuesday, March 21 at Trinity Mennonite Church with pastor Dave Plett officiating. Burial was at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Cemetery in Hillsboro.

She was born March 4, 1923, to Jacob Meier and Lydia Ostwalt Meier in Germany. On Jan. 19, 1951, she was married to Elmer Pankratz, who predeceased her in 1999.

She is survived by two sons, Larry W. and wife Janice Pankratz of Salina, Mark W. Pankratz of Hillsboro; a daughter, Linda C. and husband Dan Wiese of John Day, Ore.; a sister, Ella Swain of Marion; and five grandchildren.

Wendell Peterson, 79

Wendell E. Peterson, 79, retired oil industry worker and a lifelong resident of Burdick, died Wednesday, March 15, at his home.

The funeral was at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 18, at the Hebron Lutheran Church, Burdick. A committal service followed at Hebron Lutheran Cemetery with military honors.

He was born Feb. 8, 1927, to Iver Laverne and Stella Helen Hansen Peterson at Burdick. On April 18, 1949, he was married to Mary Deane Burns, who survives.

He is also survived by son Birdett "Bud" and wife Maureen of Burdick, son Bill and wife Judy of Herington, son Marvin of Lincolnville, three brothers, a sister, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation was 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and prior to the funeral on Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel.

Memorials have been established with Hebron Lutheran Church and Hospice of Dickinson County and may be sent in care of the funeral home in Herington.
