The fourth annual clean-up day at Marion Reservoir is planned for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, April 6.
Volunteers are needed to help clean up trash around the lake. They should dress appropriately; gloves are recommended.
Volunteers should meet at the Corps of Engineers office on the east side of the dam.

Driver safety course offered March 20-21
A driver-safety course will be offered at 5:30 p.m., March 20 and 21 at the Hillsboro Senior Center.
The event was formally called "55 Alive" and was intended for seniors, but the course now is open to drivers of all ages. Class materials have been updated to make them easier to follow. No written or driving tests are used.
The course requires eight hours of class time, usually divided into two four-hour sessions. Instructors are local volunteers under the AARP.
Persons who complete the course qualify for insurance premium discounts under Kansas law.

A&C Fair committee seek food vendors
The Hillsboro Arts & Crafts Association is now accepting applications for concessions for the 2006 fair set for Sept. 16.

Public invited to Ebenfeld CE night
The public is invited to the Christian Endeavor inspirational program at 7 p.m., Sunday, March 12 at the Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren Church located at 1498 Kanza.
The program will include a variety of music numbers and a speaker.

The Farmerettes will meet at 2 p.m., Monday, March 13, in the home of Ruth Ann Penner.

Seminar to focus on container gardening
Ten Thousand Villages, a nonprofit, fair-trade store for world artisans, will host a container gardening seminar with Harvest Greenhouse and Garden Center at 3 p.m., March 18.
Participants in this hands-on seminar will learn more about herbs and flowers that flourish in containers.

Food for Thought to focus on fun
Patty Wooten, a registered nurse by profession, will show at the next Prairie View Food for Thought presentation that having fun at work and at home is not impossible.
In fact, research shows that having fun actually can improve productivity and job satisfaction.
The upbeat presentation is planned for 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 14, at the Tabor College Wohlgemuth Music Education Center in Hillsboro.
Through the years, Wooten has humored more than a quarter million people across the world. She has worked with Norman Cousins, clowned with Patch Adams and written three books about the therapeutic value of humor, laughter and fun.
In 2002 she received a lifetime achievement award for her contributions to the discipline of therapeutic humor.
Wooten enjoys teaching her audiences how to create more fun in their life, both at work and at home.

The children of Mary Ann Woelk of Goessel invite her friends and family to celebrate her 70th birthday March 10 with a card shower.
She was born on a farm near Lehigh, the daughter of David and Katie Nickel. She married Charles Woelk in 1954. They have resided at the same address in Goessel ever since.
Children are Mark and Harriet Woelk, Arlen and Anita Goertzen and Rick and Denise Woelk, all of Goessel, and Bob and Kathy Woelk of Hillsboro.

The children of Edmund Steiner from rural Lincolnville are helping him celebrate his 90th birthday by having an open house at the Pilsen Community Center from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 19.
