The fourth-ranked Tabor College women's basketball team (27-4) will open the 15th National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Division II basketball championship against Eastern Oregon University in Sioux City, Iowa, at noon Wednesday.

The Bluejays are a No. 2 seed in their eight-team bracket.

The 32-team, single-elimination tournament will be hosted by the Sioux City Convention Center March 8-14.

EOU earned a berth in the tournament by virtue of winning the Cascade Collegiate Conference post-season tournament.

Located at La Grande, EOU has an enrollment of 3,452 students. The Mountaineers enter the contest with a 24-7 record and have won 12 straight games.

EOU averages 68.5 points per game while holding their opposition to 55.1. The Mountaineers connect on 44 percent of their field-goal attempts while limiting their opponent to 37 percent.

EOU made 138 3-point shots this season (35 percent), averaged 16.8 assists per outing, made 10.9 steals per game and hauled in 41.5 rebounds per contest-8.9 more than their opponents averaged.

The Mountaineers have four players scoring in double figures.

The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference's other entrant, the Ottawa Braves (22-9), were awarded a No. 6 seed and will play No. 3 Doane (Neb.) College (24-6) in the final game of the first round at 9:15 p.m., Thursday.

If the Bluejays win their opener, they'll play at 8:30 a.m. Friday against the winner of No. 6 Dakota State University (20-10) versus No. 3 Shawnee State University (25-7) game.
