Bluejays defeat McPherson 62-46
The fourth-rated Tabor College women kept right on rolling Thursday night in Hillsboro, winning their 23rd straight game over the McPherson College Bulldogs 62-46.
Tabor built a 31-16 lead by halftime and extended its lead to as many as 28 points in the final 20 minutes at 54-26 before settling for the 16 point win.
The Bluejays committed 13 first half turnovers but finished the game with just 17 as Tabor hit 22 of 61 from the field (36 percent) and 15 of 21 (71 percent) from the line.
The Bluejays were led in scoring by Nicole Ellis with 13, Stacie Herman added 12 and both Erica Hemmert and Jill Hein contributed 10 points.
McPherson was led in scoring by April Woody with 12.
The Tabor defense was once again stout holding the visitors to just 18 for 57 shooting (32 percent) while forcing 19 Bulldog turnovers.
Tabor dominated the backboards with 45 rebounds (Ellis was tops with 7) compared to just 26 caroms for McPherson.
With the win, Tabor improves to 26-3 overall and earns a spot in Saturdays' semi-final game with the Sterling/Southwestern winner, in Hillsboro at 2:00.
McPherson finishes their season with a record of 7-20.
