Mark Bieberle of Medova Health Insurance Company came before the commission to point out how the city could save money and employees still be better served with a $750 deductible instead of a $500 deductible.

A representative from Blue Cross Blue Shield observed without comment.

City Clerk Angela Lange said she will be preparing this week for accountants on the annual audit coming in Feb. 13.

There was no mention of former City Clerk Linda Holub or the circumstances surrounding her resignation during a Commission executive session last week.

When contacted, Holub said she wasn't prepared to discuss anything for publication. She acknowledged that she had many calls from the public urging her to run for a position on the new city council in April, but she said she is too concerned in finding a new job to help her family at this time.

Two candidates for that council, Bill Holderman and Jim Davis, were there to observe the Commission meeting.

City Administrator David Mayfield, who was absent, was appointed by resolution 3-0 as the local freedom of information officer for the City of Marion.

The commissioners also approved a resolution, as they have been doing annually, waiving the statutory requirement to use the generally accepted accounting principles in the preparation of financial statements and reports.

Public Works Director Harvey Sanders said a sewer lift station on the 600 block of South Lincoln quit functioning last week, and the city had to buy a new pump for it.

He said his crew also had to extend a valve upline on the pipe coming from the reservoir because of sedimentation.

The city also installed transformers at new construction for Flaming Co.

The commissioners approved transfers to the bond and interest fund for debt service of $27,680 from the general fund, $44,272 from the electric fund and $78,706 from the water fund.
